We bet you’d be more motivated to spend time in your laundry room if it were beautiful, organized and productive. The key to an inviting laundry room is efficient storage and shelving. There are a number of ways you can achieve the best laundry room storage for even the smallest of spaces. We often forget that our space can be just as efficient as it is beautiful, so here are 5 ways to make the most of your laundry room no matter the size:
Designer Shane Inman tells HGTV viewers that taking advantage of floor-to-ceiling wall space with millwork like louvered cabinetry and pull-out drawers is essential, especially in galley-like laundry rooms. Custom industrial-inspired butler doors take up minimal space and introduce an interesting design element into the space.
Custom cabinets or open shelves installed above the tabletops or appliances can hold laundry supplies and other cleaners and household items. This serves two purposes, by hiding unattractive and dangerous products, while saving you space for folding and sorting. Think vertical or horizontal to sort items such as towels or other linens as well.
Even in a tightest of laundry spaces, you might have some room to create a folding station. Consider mounting a small counter onto your wall — you might even be able to create a solution that can fold down and back up when not in use to conserve more space. A great solution would be to install a wall-mounted desk, which would work wonderfully as a great folding station.
Cabinets provide storage, but not always the most efficient. By retro-fitting new or existing cabinets with additional storage, you could amp up the organization in your laundry room. Drawers and decorative baskets often used for kitchen or linen cabinets are a perfect option for laundry rooms.
If you don’t have a door on your laundry room but would like to separate the space, there are a number of ways you can achieve this. Why not consider using a simple curtain rod and curtains? This is a great option if your washer/dryer is somewhere more visible in your home. While curtains won’t provide any sound protection, it’s a perfect solution for hiding your washer and dryer in style.
